IN - Manufacturing Facility Concrete Joint Repair Case Study

Problem:

A large manufacturing company, located in Indiana, called to discuss the concrete issues that were visible in their facility.  They did not know what types of concrete repairs they needed or why the concrete slabs were falling apart.

Initial Review:

As soon as we arrived, we immediately noticed the concrete floor joints were showing an abnormal amount of wear, more so than normal for a heavy duty concrete floor.  We also noticed, once we started walking the floor, that the concrete slabs were rocking. After we performed some testing, we proposed that the concrete slab joints be rebuilt and then undersealed.

The client did not want the to have drill holes next to the concrete joints and asked if there was another option.  We re-evaluated the situation and developed a solution that worked for the client.  Since this client was an international corporation, we had to submit our proposal to the corporate engineering department in Germany.  The engineering department approved our proposal without any changes.

Work Performed:

We removed the failing joints and centerline filled his concrete slab.  Once we completed this step, we completed the total joint rebuild with resinstituted joints.  The final product was a smooth transistion for traffic flow throughout the entire facility.

Final Result:

In order for the client to be completely satisfied, he had one of his forklift drivers get the biggest truck and load it with the heaviest piece that woudl be moved in the facility.  The forklift driver then drove all over the repairs both forward and backward until he was completely satisfied.  After this test, the client told us that we had provided him a buisness solution that was far better than he was expecting.
